Another day of biting

E-mail Print PDF
They were huge! A lot of the guys just flat out couldn't finish them off. That's right, it was cheeseburger day on the RP. If that wasn't enough tonight is the sushi buffet. Who needs to catch fish with that menu? But catch we did as we put together another fine day of the same quality fish we've been getting here. Biggest fish today topped out around 185. It seemed that the fish were just a little tougher than yesterday, or maybe we're just getting tireder. We started fishing around 4 this morning and though winding down it is still going on now around dinner time. Well, we'll get what sleep we can and do it all again and maybe better tomorrow.
POEM FOR THE DAY:
In a storm the ship lost some cargo
It sunk and was claimed by a Pargo
Inside the crate
Was a Mustang V-8
How fast does the Pargo's cargo car go?

This morning started out very similar to yesterday. We were busy with 80 to 120 pound fish from first light to around 0930. The action slowed around this time and we scratched at this same grade through mid-day keeping at least 1 fish hooked most of the time. Things started to get lively around 1500 and we ended up having an incredible afternoon. The fish we had this afternoon were a notch or two bigger (110 to 160 pounds). All afternoon untill dark we had 3 to 6 fish hooked at a time. Guys were getting bit on fly-lined sardines mostly and we hooked a handful of fish on the kite as well. 74 degree water, 80 degree air temp, a light breeze out of the northeast, drifting for hours with 100 to 200 pound yellowfin tuna boiling around the boat, and only 18 anglers on board....it is a little slice of heaven out here.
