Bonus Stop

E-mail Print PDF
This is Larry from St. Louis again, back on board after about a 7 week lay off. This trip has been my regular for years and a better group of fellow passengers or charter master in Jack Nilsen you couldn't ask for. An amazing number of guys are repeaters on this trip so it's always a friendly reunion when we go fishing on the Accurate charter. So far the weather has been super for traveling. I've heard a lot of complaints from the "natives" that it's been too cold but believe me, they don't have a clue what cold really is if they think is bad! At any rate it's been getting warmer every day and we're not there yet. We did have a bonus stop this morning to try for some grouper, yellows, or tuna. We easily got enough for a dinner which was a prime objective, but the most common catch was rock fish. Bob Ramirez caught the first fish of the trip, the only tuna of the day. It went 31 pounds and was big enough to win the first daily derby of the trip, an RP jacket. Francois Mangeot (half of the infamous French connection brothers) (Yes, they came all the way from France again) caught the only Yellowtail and it was a pretty good one. When we came up devoid of grouper after a couple of drifts it was time to take off and be on our way Southward. The tackle preparations are in full swing and it will slow down but never really stops till we pull up stakes and head home. That's about all I've got for now. The fishing has been great so far this season and this group (present company excepted) has a skill level off the charts so expect to hear some great things in the near future. I don't know if I will be writing all the reports, but you'll know it's me if there's a.......
POEM FOR THE DAY:
He caught a yellow as big as a moose
But the Captain yelled "No, turn him loose
He's fat and quite long
But his color's all wrong
The best I could call it is puce!"
