April 20th was our departure day for the SDLongrange.com / Accurate Reels Open aboard the Royal Polaris. We got an early start as Day At The Docks was getting ready to kick off. Around 8:00 am we are off and running on our way to the bait receiver. This is a 17-day ride down ride back with only 15 passengers. The fact that the boat will run short is something to keep in mind when planning your next long range adventure. After taking on a nice load of bait we are headed for Hurricane bank. No one has been there for a few weeks so hopes are high and visions of frisky Wahoo are in everyone’s minds. |

Day 1 02/07/2008 Departure day, a few of us had loaded our gear the day before so for me all I had to do was show up. It is always great to see friend from other trips and from last year. Spirits are high and everyone is anxious to get underway. We start to load around 7:30 and we are underway shortly there after. We load up with some beautiful bait and head south. After our safety seminar Jack from Accurate Fishing products explains our daily derbies and hands out some tee shirts. We are also collecting for a raffle to raise money to help fight the MLPA. The Raffle prize will be a 870 B2 Narrow. We have many great prizes to fish for this trip, more on that as we go. Now it’s time to get settled and start the relaxation. |

The Hurricane Bank on a 10 Day |

Tuesday, 20 November 2007 |
Well today is the day we depart on our 10 day adventure aboard the Royal Polaris, we arrive at the landing early as usual to watch the previous trips catch unloaded. The rumors are already running wild on what we will be doing. After talking to a few passengers that had been there for awhile I was starting to figure out what Frank meant when he said “ready for a boat ride” as he greeted me. At this point I’m trying to explain to my friend that I brought along on his first 10 day what might happen. I immediately do a mental survey of my tackle in the truck and wonder if I should chance the ride home in the traffic to top it off with some different gear just in case. I convince myself that we will be fine with what I have and just enjoy the morning knowing what might take place. |
